Trigger Pull: Really nice. It is single-action only since it requires racking the slide to chamber the first round. The take-up is slight with a crisp light release. The trigger is definitely not going to get in the way of the accuracy of this pistol.

Accuracy: I found the pistol shot low at 30 feet, about 4 inches low. There is a preset built-in hop-up system that gives the BB backspin. The backspin will give the BB a bit of lift as it travels, so at longer ranges the BB may make up some of the distance. There were a few stragglers that shot a bit low, making the grouping just over 2 inches. There was a clearly defined tighter sub group that was about 1.75 inches in diameter. Overall, shot placement was low but pretty good side to side.

Build Quality: Excellent. The pistol is well built like the other full blowback KWC BB and airsoft pistols I have reviewed and shot in the past. The fit and finish is very good but I expect the electromagnetic black coating to wear off in the high spots fairly quickly. This does give the slight worn-in real gun look, however. In terms of quality, KWC may have even beefed up some of the areas prone to breakage like the trigger guard since this pistol is made out of Zink-based metals rather than the hardened steel in the real firearm.

Realism: I have to say the KWC Makarov PM CO2 Blowback BB Pistol is a really nice replica overall. It is perhaps one of the best considering it has full cycle blowback with an all metal full sized drop out magazine. A couple of drawbacks with the pistol that are different from the real steel Makarov PM are the thicker trigger guard and butt plate.

Pros:

  • Full cycle blowback operation
  • Nice heavy blowback spring makes slide nice and snappy
  • Full metal build
  • All metal full size drop out magazine that holds the BBs and CO2
  • Fully field strippable
  • All parts function like a real Makarov
  • Open ejection port and reassessed barrel
  • No ugly CO2 tab
  • Crisp and light single-action trigger
  • Internal fixed hop-up for improved accuracy and sustained trajectory

Cons:

  • Lower FPS due to short barrel and blowback operation
  • Magazine base is thicker and sticks out forward more than a real steel Makarov
  • Trigger guard looks to be thicker than on actual gun

Comments: The Makarov is one of my favorite pistols, a true classic! So the fact that there is yet another Makarov air pistol on the market is fine with me. This particular one might just be the best all-around Makarov airgun that hits all the spots us Replica Airgun enthusiasts love—like full blowback operation, a nice light single-action trigger, a full size metal magazine that holds the ammo and the CO2 and an all metal build with all those working bits and pieces like you would find on the real steel Makarov PM. I would have to say the KWC Makarov PM CO2 Blowback BB Pistol is one of my favourite overall Makarov airgun replicas since it pretty much has everything going for it.

defective magazine

IMHO, this is great Makarov’s replica while it lasts. Mine worked for about 80 rounds. Then BB follower just broke off the magazine. Have to say that loading the BBs in the magazine is not easy job. Apart from that it's best replica in term of realism and accuracy. Unfortunately had to return it for refund.

Realistic looking

Full metal construction with plastic grips feels hefty in the hand. The magazine is a real pain to load. There is no catch to keep the spring follower open. You have to hold it down with a fingernail while you load the bbs. And the notch to grab the follower with your fingernail is tiny and hard to grasp. A very poorly designed loading system. The gun I received is extremely picky with the ammo that will work with it. I first tried Daisy Premium grade, zinc coated, ultra smooth bbs. These did not work at all. A bb would jam in the barrel every few shots. I had to stick a plastic rod down the barrel to get them out. There were constant double feeds as well. I thought the gun was defective. Then I tried the bbs that came with the gun and they worked well. No jams, but an occasional double feed. After that I tried Avanti Precision ground shot. These worked perfectly. So if your gun is like mine you might need to buy the expensive Avanti bbs for it. I didn't try any other bbs though. I get about 4 mags out of one CO2 cartridge. Accuracy is just average. My $20 airsoft pistol shoots as accurately as this gun. So don't expect much. The blowback is nice and the gun feels good in the hand. It looks nice and disregarding accuracy is fun to shoot with the correct ammo. I mainly bought it because I wanted a replica of a Russian Makarov. If you want an accurate pistol to practice with, I would choose something else.
